The European Vegetarian Union (EVU), representing 46 civil society organisations from across Europe, unveiled the “Plant-Based Manifesto” in anticipation of the 2024 European elections.
The manifesto underscores the urgency of transforming Europe’s food systems to meet the targets of the European Green Deal and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ‘’Plant-Based Manifesto’’ was unveiled at a roundtable event titled ‘’EU Food Systems: Tabling Sustainability to Plant the Future’’ on 7 November in the presence of various high-level EU stakeholders – with Eric Lambin (member of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors to the European Commission), Olga Kikou (Head of the EU office of Compassion in World Farming), Rune-Christoffer Dragsdahl (Secretary-General at the Vegetarian Society of Denmark and Regional Representative for Europe & Director of Policy Initiatives at the International Vegetarian Union) and Siska Pottie (experienced public affairs professional with +20 years of experience in Regulatory, Medical, Public and European Affairs) as speakers.
